The conclusion has significant legal value from the perspective of Ukraine’s constitutional law, and from that of the international law. This document, along with the decisions of the statutory bodies of the Council of Europe and other international organizations, laid legal foundations for restrictive measures (sanctions) currently applied to Russia in connection with the illegal annexation of Crimea, and laid grounds for clear and consolidated international legal position of Ukraine on the status of the occupied territories and their subsequent liberation.
