Resolution 2034 (2015) «Challenge, on substantive grounds, of the still unratified credentials of the delegation of the Russian Federation»
The Assembly reiterates its condemnation of the illegal annexation of Crimea and emphasizes regular statements by Russian politicians clearly saying that a solution to the issue would not be possible under international law. The PACE puts forward specific demands to the Russian Federation in this regard first of all, to cease the illegal annexation of Crimea. A separate section of the document addresses the situation of national minorities in Crimea, in particular the oppression of Crimean Tatars. An important part of the document constitutes an assessment of the developments in eastern Ukraine. The PACE directly condemns Russia’s role in inciting and escalating these events, stressing the inadmissibility of supplying weapons to insurgents and covert military action by Russian troops in eastern Ukraine. European parliamentarians define these actions as gross violations of international law.
