Resolution A/RES/73/194 «Problem of the militarization of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Ukraine, as well as parts of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov»
The UN General Assembly condemns the temporary occupation of the Crimean peninsula by the Russian Federation and does not recognize the attempts by the occupying power to annex it. The document also notes the fact that the temporary occupation of Crimea contravenes Russias commitments under the Budapest Memorandum.
The resolution underscores the UNGA’s serious concern about the progressive militarization of Crimea and the supply of weapons systems, and calls on Russia to cease such activity.
Separately, Russia is called upon to refrain from impeding the lawful exercise of navigational rights and freedoms in the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov, and the Kerch Strait.
The resolution also condemns the construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait and calls on Russia to withdraw its armed forces from the Crimean peninsula.
