As part of the international conference “Crimea Global: Understanding Ukraine through the South”, an excursion to the de-occupied Kyiv region was organized.

The participants visited Motyzhyn village, where the delegation was met by the Deputy Head of Makariv territorial community, village head and representatives of the authorities. Tamila Tasheva addressed the delegation with a welcoming speech, thanking the guests for participating in the conference.

In the village of Motyzhyn the delegation visited the lyceum where a meeting with high school students was organized. The conference participants were deeply impressed by the students’ stories about their time under occupation. They also honored the memory of the head of the village, Olha Suhenko, who was killed by the occupiers together with her family.

The delegation also visited Irpin. They met with the mayor of the city near the Romanivskyi Bridge to discuss the consequences of the full-scale aggression and the reconstruction of Kyiv region, in particular the city of Irpin. The participants of the conference together with the Permanent Representative also visited the lyceum №3, which was rebuilt after its destruction by the Russian occupants.

In conclusion, the guests were given a tour of the Diia. Business Business Support Center in Bucha, where they had the opportunity to talk to local entrepreneurs about the impact of Russian aggression on business in the city and the region.

Russia must be punished for its crimes against the civilian population of Ukraine. We are sincerely grateful to the members of the delegation for participating in today’s events, as international support is more important than ever in rebuilding and restoring normal life in the settlements destroyed by the Russian occupiers, as well as in the fight against the aggressor for a common future in a world without terrorism.
