“Breathing vibrancy back to our communities, we welcome people of Ukraine with open arms, whether they choose to stay in our country, and we will say goodbye with heavy hearts when the war concludes and reconstruction begins”, – the Speaker of the Lower House of the Irish Parliament Seán Ó Fearghaíl
“Breathing vibrancy back to our communities, we welcome people of Ukraine with open arms, whether they choose to stay in our country, and we will say goodbye with heavy hearts when the war concludes and reconstruction begins”
The Speaker of the Lower House of the Irish Parliament Seán Ó Fearghaíl expressed gratitude for convening the vitally important summit in order to occupy Crimea and return stolen children to their families.
Mr. Fearghaíl underscored that Ireland has been and remains a long-term friend of Ukraine. He noted that Ireland has been contented to provide asylum for Ukrainian refugees since February 2022.
He provided some data on humanitarian and military assistance granted to Ukraine by Ireland on the national and European level, specifically 90 million euros of stabilization support, 122 million euros of military assistance within the European peace facility, and two training modules to support the Ukrainian army.
Ireland fully supports Ukraine’s sovereignty within internationally recognized borders and calls for the withdrawal of the invader’s troops, as well as the accountability of those who breach the principles of international law.
The Speaker reiterated that Ireland welcomed the European Commission’s decision to grant Ukraine the status of a candidate for the EU membership. “That is something we enthusiastically promote” — he concluded.
