“We recognize Ukraine’s borders extending to its internationally recognized territories as affirmed by the General Assembly. We must continue to address the situation of human rights in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and continue our efforts to work for a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace in line with international law and the resolutions of the General Assembly,” António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations stated.

The Secretary-General reminded that the UN General Assembly has repeatedly confirmed the occupation of Ukrainian settlements by the Russian Federation.

“The respect for the territorial integrity of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol as part of Ukraine is a fundamental principle of international law and a cornerstone of the UN Charter,” Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres emphasized.
