The Fourth Crimea Platform Summit: David Lammy, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom.

“The first active invasion launched by Russia in February 2022 did not come out of nowhere; it is a continuation of a colonialist tradition,” said David Lammy, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom.

David Lammy, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom, assures that the UK will remain on Ukraine’s side and provide all necessary assistance. He drew the attention of the international community to the fact that Russia’s attempts to seize Ukrainian territories, including the Crimean Peninsula, are a systematic practice. He noted that this year, Ukraine commemorates the 80th anniversary of the deportation of the Crimean Tatars and almost 250 years since the first attempt by the Russian Empire to seize the Crimean Peninsula.

David Lammy also pointed out Russia’s crimes, noting that Russia has stolen almost 400,000 tons of grain looted in Ukraine through Crimean ports.

The Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom emphasized the systematic human rights violations in occupied Crimea, arbitrary detentions, and torture of Ukrainian citizens. David Lammy assured that the UK will remain on the side of Ukraine and will help bring to justice all those involved in crimes against humanity committed by Russia in Ukraine.
