The Fourth Crimea Platform Summit: Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada

“We remember that Russia’s aggression against Ukraine continues. What Putin has demonstrated in Crimea shows that the world must act,” Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, said.

Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau mentioned that over the past ten years, Crimean civilians have been subjected to illegal arrests, ill-treatment, and torture.

“The United Nations has documented 104 cases of enforced disappearances from Crimea. It is reported that Crimean detainees have been transferred to the Russian prison system, and consular visits have been denied to them,” said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

He emphasized that the resilience demonstrated by the Ukrainian people is inspiring. In this regard, he recalled that Canada was the first to recognize Ukraine as a free and independent state and continue to stand firm in its commitment to ensuring it remains so.
