The Fourth Crimea Platform Summit: Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister of New Zealand

The Fourth Crimea Platform Summit: Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister of New Zealand

“Russia’s attempted strangling of Ukrainian trade from its ports in the Black Sea since 2022 has been a direct consequence of Russia’s ongoing illegal occupation of Crimea”, — Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister of New Zealand.

Prime Minister of New Zealand Christopher Luxon believes that Russia has ultimately been defeated by Ukraine’s efforts to restore maritime security in the western Black Sea and develop the Black Sea shipping corridor.

“New Zealand condemned Russia’s illegal attempted annexation of Crimea in 2014, and we continue to condemn it now. Russia’s occupation of Crimea, like its occupation of other parts of Ukraine, is a gross violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders”, — the Prime Minister of New Zealand stated.

Christopher Luxon added that this year New Zealand announced new sanctions against individuals and legal entities that support Russia’s military efforts, additional military assistance to Ukraine for the purchase of weapons and ammunition, including drones, as well as support for medical rehabilitation of the Ukrainian military.
