The Fourth Crimea Platform Summit: Refat Chubarov, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people

“Russian barbarians are pursuing a deliberate policy to change the composition of the population, in particular, to oust the Indigenous people, destroy the national identity of the Crimean Tatar people and Ukrainians living on the temporarily occupied peninsula,” Refat Chubarov, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.

Refat Chubarov, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, said that in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, the rights, especially the right to life and dignity, of the Indigenous people and ethnic Ukrainians are being massively violated by the Russian Federation, armed groups and its occupation administration.

“We must also realize that as a result of the occupation, which has lasted for eleven years and is followed by extensive propaganda covering all spheres of society, starting with kindergartens and schools, certain changes in the minds of some people living in temporarily occupied Crimea occurred,” Refat Chubarov stated.

In conclusion, Refat Chubarov added that the State has already taken necessary steps in this direction, including adopting the Law of Ukraine “On Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine,” some of which are currently being implemented.
