The Fourth Crimea Platform Summit: Salina Shambos, Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus
“Russia’s unjustified aggression has unleashed a brutal war that calls into question all the foundations of democracy and violates the international order. Any country is at risk”, Salina Shambos, Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, said.
Salina Shambos began her speech by saying, “Our participation in the summit reflects our unwavering position in support of Ukraine and our continued struggle for a lasting and just peace, which can only be based on the established principles of the United Nations.”
She emphasized that Cyprus will continue to provide unwavering support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and restoration of territorial integrity within its recognized borders, including with the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
“There are many reasons to remain optimistic that Ukraine will win. Ukraine’s successes in the Black Sea region are a clear indication of this”, said the Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Salina Shambos emphasized that Cyprus will continue to provide all possible assistance to Ukraine to restore peace and security.
“We reject any attempts to occupy the territory of Ukraine illegally. We are against the use of Crimea as a springboard for armed aggression against Ukraine. Crimea is Ukraine,” said Salina Shambos. She emphasized that Cyprus supports the Peace Formula and recognizes Ukraine within its recognized borders. The Republic of Cyprus will continue to implement point 8 of the Peace Formula, fight against ecocide, and participate in the demining of Ukraine’s territory.
The Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus emphasizes, “We cannot allow violence and injustice to win.”
