The Fourth Crimea Platform Summit: Jonas Gahr Støre, Prime Minister of Norway

The Fourth Crimea Platform Summit: Jonas Gahr Støre, Prime Minister of Norway

“In the Black Sea, Ukraine has significantly weakened Russia’s Black Sea fleet, pushing it far from Ukraine’s shores,” Jonas Gahr Støre, Prime Minister of Norway.

In his speech at the Fourth Summit of the Crimea Platform, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre praised Ukraine’s military successes in the Black Sea and added that as the Ukrainian Armed Forces pushed back the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Ukraine resumed exporting grain and essential goods to countries around the world.

“As we mark the 80th anniversary of the forced deportation of the Crimean Tatars, they are again, once again, being persecuted by the Russian occupying administration. This is completely unacceptable,” Jonas Gahr Støre stated.

The Norwegian Prime Minister condemned Russia’s policy of “silent deportation,” which its predecessor, the Soviet Union, perpetrated. He also urged Russia to withdraw all its troops and equipment from the entire territory of Ukraine, including the illegally occupied Crimean Peninsula, because Crimea is Ukraine. Jonas Gahr Støre emphasized that Norway and the United Kingdom will continue to provide long-term support to Ukraine as part of the Maritime Capability Coalition.
