“Crimea should become a center for technological development and a business hub – a Ukrainian Silicon Valley,” emphasized Olga Kurishko, Deputy Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
During a parallel side event with the business community at the third summit of the International Crimea Platform, Olga Kurishko, Deputy Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, presented the We Build Crimea portal, which was developed by the Representation in collaboration with the Ministry of Reconstruction of Ukraine. Its aim is to unite national and international businesses for the development of a liberated, economically independent, and advanced Crimea.
“Crimea should become a center for technological development and a business hub – a Ukrainian Silicon Valley,” emphasized Ms. Kurishko.
The memorandum has already been signed by businesses that had to relocate from Crimea in 2014. Some international businesses have also become signatories.
Ms. Kurishko provided further details on the Strategy for the Economic Recovery of Crimea, a visionary document developed by the Representation in collaboration with the Ministry of Reconstruction, the Center for Defense Strategies, the Kyiv School of Economics, involving other government representatives, experts, and the Office of the President of Ukraine.
The strategy aims to create new infrastructure that will connect Crimea with Europe, attract international networks, develop tourism, facilitate the return of people and businesses, and promote the use of alternative energy sources.
The Deputy Permanent Representative emphasized the importance of cooperation between the state and businesses for the sustainable development of the liberated region. Olga Kurishko expressed her belief in the incredible potential of Crimea in terms of natural resources as well as human capital. By investing in the region, supporting entrepreneurship, and fostering a transparent business environment, Crimea can become a magnet for youth, reforms, and international investors. The Deputy emphasizes a future where Crimea will be known not only for its beaches but also for developed IT clusters, urban parks, and year-round tourist attractions.
She concluded her speech with a call to action – to work together to shape the future of Crimea and create an environment in which its citizens can live successful and peaceful lives. Through determination and collective efforts, the vision of a revived and prosperous Crimea can become a reality.
