Crimean activist Yevhen Karakashev released after 6 years in prison

Yevhen Karakashev, a Crimean political prisoner and activist from Yevpatoria, illegally convicted in russia, was released after 6 years in balashov prison in saratov region. This was reported by his acquaintance in her telegram channel.

Yevhen Karakashev was unjustly accused of allegedly “calling for terrorism”, which were posted on one of the social networks. The southern district military court in the russian city of rostov-on-don unlawfully sentenced him to 6 years in a general regime penal colony. 

It is important to note that Yevhen Karakashev spent part of his sentence in the penal colony-1 in kabardino-balkaria, where he was held in a single cell-type room, which is the most severe level of isolation for persistent violators of the regime. In November 2022, he was transferred to the balashov prison.
