Dilyara Abdullayeva Announces Upcoming Meetings with Her Sons

Dilyara Abdullayeva, the mother of political prisoners Teymur and Uzeyir Abdullayev, announced on Facebook the upcoming meetings with her sons and shared details about their conditions in Russian prisons.

The woman noted that staff at Colony No. 2 in the city of Salavat, Republic of Bashkortostan, are forcing Teymur Abdullayev to stage violations of the regime, pressuring him and punishing him based on fabricated reasons, such as not greeting the colony’s chief during prayers. Moreover, Teymur has been held in solitary confinement for more than 1,020 days, which, given his health condition, amounts to a death sentence. In her post, Dilyara shared that she regularly visits IK-2 in hopes of influencing the situation, and yesterday she was fortunate: as a result of a “long and difficult conversation” with the head of the colony, she was granted a meeting with her son on September 8. The head of the colony also personally allowed her to send Teymur a 5-kilogram parcel.

“I’ve been given a meeting with my son on September 8. Teymur will be transferred to solitary confinement on the evening of September 5, with the weekend coming up, and on Monday, I’ll see my younger son. The head of the colony personally allowed me to send him a 5-kilogram parcel,” Dilyara Abdullayeva wrote.

Dilyara’s older son, Uzeyir Abdullayev, is held at Colony No. 16 in the city of Salavat, Republic of Bashkortostan. His health condition is also critical: Dilyara emphasizes that due to heart issues, his kidneys are not functioning properly, resulting in constant swelling in his legs. Dilyara plans to visit her older son after the meeting with her younger son, as she intends to pass on news from Teymur to Uzeyir.

“Uzeyir is very, very sick, he lives swallowing handfuls of medication,” the mother stressed.

The health conditions of Teymur and Uzeyir Abdullayev are critical — prison staff are refusing to provide medical assistance or improve the conditions of their detention, despite severe symptoms of their illnesses.

We call on the international community to pay attention to the gross violations of the conditions of political prisoners’ detention and the refusal to provide them with necessary medical care by the occupying country.
