“Due to the fact that the Russians have already violated human and citizen rights numerous times, their responsibility for this should be strengthened. For this reason, Liechtenstein has supported the decision of the International Criminal Court”— Albert Frick, President of the Landtag of the Principality of Liechtenstein.
Albert Frick, President of the Landtag of the Principality of Liechtenstein, stated during a panel discussion within the framework of the Second Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimean Platform that he always stands by Ukraine against Russia’s aggressive war. Just like most members of the international community, Liechtenstein also depends on compliance with the international legal order, which excludes the use of violence and force in general. Liechtenstein became a member of the UN because they believed in their charter and were convinced that any violation of the UN charter provokes a reaction from the international community. Liechtenstein takes a principled position in favor of compliance with the international legal order and prohibitions on the use of force.
From the very beginning, he fundamentally condemned the annexation of the Crimean peninsula and the “so-called” referendums that Russia held there. This is really a mockery of the UN Charter, and due to the fact that the Russians have already violated human and citizen rights numerous times, their responsibility for this should be strengthened. It is for this reason that he very much welcomes the decision of the international criminal court. But one such decision is not enough. Those who are responsible for the aggression against Ukraine must be brought to justice too, as the international legal order requires. Today’s summit conveys such strong news and a strong message of international unity, and he hopes that the situation will remain this way, especially when other countries join.
