“Finland stands with Ukraine. We support Ukrainian  independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity”- Prime Minister Petteri Orpo.

Prime Minister Petteri Orpo of Finland expressed unwavering support for Ukraine and condemned Russia’s occupation of Crimea during his speech at the Third Summit of the Crimea Platform. He emphasized that Ukraine’s cause is the cause of the international community and reiterated that Crimea is Ukraine.

The Prime Minister  denounced Russia’s ongoing aggression in Ukraine as a serious breach of international law and an act of aggression. He highlighted the grave human rights violations that have taken place in Crimea, particularly affecting the Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian communities. The Prime Minister expressed concern over the worsening human rights situation since the occupation.

Finland’s commitment to Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders was reaffirmed by the Prime Minister. He stressed  that Ukraine has the right to make its own choices and has decided that its future lies in a European and Euro-Atlantic path.

Mr. Petteri Orpo condemned Russia’s aggression in the strongest terms and pledged Finland’s continued support for all international efforts to restore Ukraine’s territorial integrity. He expressed support for Ukraine’s initiative for a just and lasting peace, emphasizing the need for comprehensive solutions that address the global consequences of Russia’s actions.

The Prime Minister assured Ukraine that Finland would stand by its side and support it in various ways for as long as needed. He also expressed Finland’s readiness to participate in the reconstruction of an independent, democratic, and prosperous Ukraine. The Prime Minister concluded his speech by congratulating Ukraine on its Independence Day and reaffirming Finland’s solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
