Grand Chancellor of the Sovereign Order of Malta Riccardo Paternò di Montecupo reaffirmed the Order’s continuous solidarity with the people of Ukraine and its commitment to international and humanitarian law

He stressed the important role of the International Crimea Platform, called for diplomatic channels toward a peaceful resolution, and supported the central role of  the UN, noting: “We must not lose faith in multilateralism”. 

He stressed that humanitarian assistance cannot substitute for peace and called for a sustainable resolution to the conflict. Emphasizing that diplomatic and multilateral channels must remain open so that civilians no longer bear the devastating consequences of war, he concluded that the people of Ukraine deserve the opportunity to live in peace, security and dignity.
