“I was born and live in a country that knows very well what it is like to live under Russian occupation.”, – Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė, Deputy Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania.
Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė, Deputy Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, recalled with regret the events of the Second World War: “I was born and live in a country that knows very well what it is like to live under Russian occupation,” and emphasized that Russians once deported Lithuanians, young children and older citizens, to Siberia. Then it was repeated in Georgia in 2008. And then in 2014 in Crimea. This shows that Russia does not stop.
In her speech, Ms. Radvilė made a sincere confession: “As a child, I saw Russian troops killing civilians. And then I gave birth to a child when Russia bombed a hospital in Mariupol. That is why I understand more than anyone else that we need to put an end to Russian attacks, invite Ukraine to the EU and help it on this difficult path.”
The Deputy Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Ms. Radvilė, has been steadfastly advocating for Ukraine’s admission to the EU, insisting that it is also for the sake of the future of the whole world.
