In Crimea the occupants unlawfully confined Diliaver Salimov, a Crimean Tatar

Today in Crimea, the occupiers sent illegally detained Crimean Tatar Diliaver Salimov to a penal colony. The occupation “court” falsely accused Mr. Salimov of allegedly “threatening to kill”.

The man was illegally arrested after refusing to record a video with apologies for his pro-Ukrainian position for the occupation Telegram channel.

Last summer, in the city of Staryi Krym, Diliaver Salimov expressed his resentment against the attributes with the “Z” symbol on his interlocutor in a conversation with another man. This incident was filmed by eyewitnesses, and later the video was published in the occupation Telegram channels.

After the video was published, an administrative case was opened against Salimov for allegedly “disorderly conduct”. The Simferopol occupational “court” unjustly deemed his 14-day administrative arrest and imposed a 4000 ruble fine. Subsequently, individuals from a propaganda Telegram channel attempted to coerce him into apologizing on camera. When Salimov, a Crimean Tatar, declined, the charges escalated with the initiation of a criminal case about threats of violence.

The occupiers are once again violating the rights and freedoms of Ukrainian citizens in Crimea. At the beginning of April 2024, the Russians have already drawn up 737 illegal administrative protocols on the so-called “discrediting” of the occupation army on the occupied peninsula.

We urge the international community to react to the criminal acts of Russia, a terrorist state, and condemn the systematic persecution of Ukrainian citizens in the occupied Crimea.
