Spanish-Language Media UATV Español Launched New Project “Crimea es Ucrania”
The channel UATV Español introduces a new project titled “Crimea es Ucrania” (Crimea is Ukraine), which focuses on the consequences of Russia’s occupation of the peninsula. UATV Español is an international digital media platform aimed at a broad audience worldwide. The platform aims to provide objective, timely, and engaging information about Ukraine.
As part of the “Crimea es Ucrania” project, Spanish-speaking audiences will be informed about the crimes committed by Russia and continuing in occupied Crimea since 2014. The authors emphasize that Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine did not begin in 2022, but in 2014, with the occupation of Crimea.
The project highlights Russian propaganda, political persecution, unlawful displacement of individuals, human rights violations—including the right to education, freedom of religion, and freedom of expression—as well as infringements on the rights of Ukraine’s Indigenous peoples under Russian occupation. It also documents other breaches of international humanitarian law committed by Russia following the occupation of Crimea.A distinctive feature of the project is its analysis of each of these crimes through the lenses of history, culture, and politics, offering a deeper understanding of the impact and consequences of Crimea’s occupation for Ukraine and its people.
The first episode is now available on the UATV Español YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@UATVEspanol.
