Latvia supports Ukrainian peaceful initiatives and calls on the global community to ensure Russia’s responsibility for the crimes it has committed

“We continue to receive very alarming information about the demographic situation change in occupied Crimea. These facts cannot but be disturbing, especially considering the issue of the genocide of Crimean Tatars committed by the Soviet regime in 1944,” stated President of the Republic of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs.

He emphasized that Ukraine is not alone in its fight for justice, and the international community should remain united in its support of Ukraine.

Summing up, the President of Latvia noted: “We should facilitate the export of urgently needed food from Ukraine to, particularly, developing countries. For this purpose, we need to ensure a safe corridor through the Black Sea.”
