Mission Signs Memorandum with Lund University within the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies

On 7 May, the Permanent Representative signed a memorandum on the development of Crimean Tatar studies with Lund University in Sweden. The signing took place as part of the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies.

“Signing a memorandum on the development of Ukrainian, and specifically Crimean Tatar, studies in Sweden is a step towards restoring historical truth and strengthening the international academic community’s awareness of the history and culture of the Indigenous Crimean Tatar peoples,” noted Olha Kuryshko.

The memorandum provides for the development of academic cooperation and support for Crimean Tatar studies within the international educational environment. On the Ukrainian side, the document was signed by Permanent Representative Olha Kuryshko, and on behalf of Lund University, by representatives of the Faculty of Humanities and the Department of Ukrainian Studies.

The Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies is an initiative implemented with the support of the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, and coordinated by the Fund of the President of Ukraine for Education, Science and Sports, the Ukrainian Institute, the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea / Crimea Platform Office, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Developing Crimean Tatar studies abroad is an important step towards enhancing knowledge about Crimea, the Crimean Tatar people, and the Ukrainian context within the international academic community.
