Occupants illegally convicted and transferred Ukrainian political prisoners from Crimea to Russia, where they have been subjected to abuse.

The Russians systematically apply force against Ukrainian political prisoners and do

not provide adequate medical care, which leads to serious health consequences for political prisoners.

An update on the situation as of early April:

Political prisoner Tofik Abdulhaziiev was diagnosed with tuberculosis, bilateral pneumonia, heart failure, and several other complex diseases (According to his lawyer, Emil Kurbedinov, it has been revealed). He was recently transferred from the critical care unit to the intensive care unit. According to his family, he is extremely fatigued and has lost almost 40 kilograms.

In May 2022, the occupation “court” issued a sentencing decision against Mr. Abdulhaziiev, illegally convicting him to 12 years in a strict regime colony with the first five years in prison. In July 2023, the man was transferred to a prison in the Cheliabinsk region of the Russian Federation.

Political prisoner Asan Yanykov was beaten in prison in the Russian city of Vladimir. During an inspection on April 6th, two guards hit him twice on the head against the concrete after he asked for food from his cell. According to his sister, he did not provoke the prison guards and did not resist. The occupiers illegally convicted Mr. Yanykov in March 2023. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Yanykov’s relatives and advocates plan to file complaints with the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Russian Federation about the assault.

Zekiria Muratov, a 66-year-old political prisoner with a 3rd group disability, was moved from a Balashov prison in the Saratov region to Colony No. 5 in Nizhny Novgorod. He informed his daughter of the transfer through the prison’s Zonatelecom connection.

In the summer of 2021, in the pre-trial detention center, Zekiria suffered from COVID-19 and was taken to the prison hospital in Rostov-on-Don in serious health condition with bilateral pneumonia. Later, he had a hypertensive crisis.

In July 2020, the occupiers illegally sentenced Mr. Muratov to 11 years in prison.
