The New York Declaration was signed during the Fifth Summit of the Crimea Platform
Following the Fifth Summit of the International Crimea Platform, which took place on September 24 in New York, the New York Declaration was signed. Its adoption on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, on the 80th anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter, holds special symbolic and political significance. Ukraine expresses its sincere gratitude to the United Nations for hosting this high-level summit in such a historic year.
In the New York Declaration, the participating states reaffirmed their commitment to the goals and principles enshrined in the UN Charter, particularly respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, the rejection of the use of force, and the peaceful settlement of international disputes. The document recognizes the consistent and principled position of the UN General Assembly in defending these norms of international law and confirms the illegality of any territorial acquisitions resulting from aggression, as well as the non-recognition of attempts at annexation and the temporary occupation of Ukrainian territory.
The Declaration supports all relevant UN General Assembly resolutions adopted since 2014 in response to the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, its attempted annexation, and the occupation of Ukrainian territories, including the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. The document also emphasizes the violations of human rights and international humanitarian law in these territories.
Furthermore, the New York Declaration reaffirms support for efforts aimed at establishing a comprehensive and lasting peace in Ukraine in accordance with the UN Charter and encourages constructive participation in diplomatic efforts, consultations, and coordination formats, including the International Crimea Platform.
