Permanent Representative Meets with Representatives of the Centre for Strategic Research in Türkiye
As part of an official working visit, Permanent Representative Olha Kuryshko held a working meeting at the Centre for Strategic Research (SAM) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye. The Centre is a leading think tank researching foreign policy, international relations, and security issues.
Representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Türkiye also participated in the meeting.
During the discussion, Olha Kuryshko briefed the participants on the general situation in occupied Crimea, emphasising the systematic human rights violations on the peninsula.
In particular, the Permanent Representative drew attention to the large-scale campaign of so-called nationalisation of private property and land plots carried out by the aggressor state in the occupied territory. She also stressed that under the guise of “reconstruction”, Russia is destroying sites of Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar cultural heritage, while the policies of the occupying authorities effectively deprive Ukrainian citizens in occupied Crimea of the opportunity to study their native language and to use it in public spaces.
Olha Kuryshko noted that Crimean Tatars remain the most persecuted group in occupied Crimea, a fact confirmed, inter alia, by judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for joint analytical projects and opportunities to involve the Centre for Strategic Research in expert-level cooperation, including within the framework of the Crimea Platform Expert Network.
