The President of the Republic of Slovenia spoke at the Fifth Summit of the Crimea Platform

“It is the very basis for peace and stability in the international community. We must reaffirm that any territorial acquisition achieved through the threat or use of force cannot be legally recognized,” stated Nataša Pirc Musar, the President of the Republic of Slovenia.

Nataša Pirc Musar condemned the actions of the Russian Federation, stressing that the international community will not recognize territorial gains achieved through the use of force. She called for the immediate, complete, and unconditional withdrawal of Russian armed forces from the territory of Ukraine and an end to attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure. Nataša Pirc Musar also emphasized the importance of adhering to the resolutions of the UN General Assembly adopted since 2014, which reject attempts to legitimize forced changes of borders.

The President of the Republic of Slovenia urged Russia to withdraw its troops from Ukraine without delay and without conditions, and to cease attacks on the civilian population. She underlined that the resolutions of the UN General Assembly have clearly confirmed: the international community will not accept attempts to alter borders by force, while the New York Declaration has become a symbol of commitment to an international order based on international law.
