Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković stressed the importance of the non-recognition policy regarding the occupation of Crimea

“These are the consequences of occupation of Crimea, which is, as we have all said, a Ukrainian territory and should remain as such.”

Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković noted that 12 years of illegal occupation of Crimea are accompanied by arbitrary detentions, enforced disappearances, torture, and the systematic suppression of dissent. He recalled that we stated this as Croatia when we hosted the first parliamentary summit of the International Crimea Platform back in 2022, and we have said how much the adherence to the international law is important, not only for Ukraine, but for all of us. He stressed that this is what it all boils to, and also, it comes to standing firm on reiterating the UN Charter, on reaffirming the GA’s resolutions, adding that in that context, we must be firm on non-recognition.

«Occupation must never become ordinary, and time must never turn force into right. Non-recognition is not a facility, but it keeps the door open to peace and justice», — the Prime Minister emphasized.

He also reaffirmed his unwavering support for Ukraine and his readiness to stay close “not only for Ukraine, but for other, for Crimea, but also for other Ukrainian occupied territories”.
