“Since 2008, the war and invasion have been a repeating reminder: if one country is under threat, the security of all nations is at stake” — Mr Archil Talakvadze, Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia
“Since 2008, the war and invasion have been a repeating reminder: if one country is under threat, the security of all nations is at stake” — Mr Archil Talakvadze, Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia
The Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Archil Talakvadze, greeted the participants of the Summit and reconfirmed Georgian support for Ukraine. He emphasized that the representatives should act not just as individuals but as a united body and show the actual power of democracy.
He noted that Georgian support of Ukraine has been “unconditional and timeless,” as it stands for the inherent right of Ukrainian sovereignty, and the Georgian embassy has been constantly working in Ukraine.
Mr. Talakvadze stated that Georgian people “had opened their hearts and doors” for the Ukrainian people fleeing the war, giving them the same benefits as Georgians. Despite the fact that the country has been suffering instability in two of its historic regions, Georgia has pledged its unwavering commitment to Ukraine. He reiterated that the members of the Georgian government had seen the shocking consequences of the Russian invasion in Bucha and Irpin.
Eventually, the speaker took the opportunity to call on the European Union to secure Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova within the European family. “These countries should get a clear roadmap for joining the EU as members, so together we can be a strong Europe,” he concluded.
