Suleiman Mamutov Becomes Ten-Time European Grappling Champion
Crimean Tatar athlete Suleiman Mamutov has achieved another remarkable victory on the international stage. At the European Grappling Championship held in Poland, he won two gold medals in the No Gi and Gi categories among juniors under 20, as well as a bronze medal in the adult division.
With this result, Mamutov has become a ten-time European champion, reaffirming his status as one of Ukraine’s most decorated athletes in the sport.
Suleiman is a trainee of the Odesa-based sports club Safar Kazanov Academy of Martial Arts. In a comment to QIRIM.News, the club’s director, Safar Kazanov, stated:
«We’ve been raising Suleiman since childhood. His coach, Ali Charynskyi, has been training him for a long time. Mamutov is growing up in our sports family. As you know, his father is a Kremlin prisoner.»
Despite the war and occupation, athletes from Crimea continue to represent Ukraine at the international level. Their victories are a testament to the resilience, dignity, and unbreakable spirit of Ukrainian Crimea. In total, the Crimean team earned six gold medals at this championship.
