The forum “26-2-14: The War began in Crimea” was opened with an address of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He began his speech with a reminder that it was 10 years ago that Crimea was cynically occupied by the Russian Federation, when repression, fear, and humiliation of people came to the peninsula along with the Russian occupation army.
“Wars are truly over when the evil that gave rise to them is extinguished. That is why the sense of justice and the desire for peace must go hand in hand. This requires, in particular, not forgetting about Crimea and fighting for it,” the President of Ukraine emphasized.
Volodymyr Oleksandrovych noted that Ukraine should continue to increase its counteraction to Russia at all possible levels and fight for people in all occupied territories. In particular, it is extremely important to ensure that Crimean Tatars, as native people of Ukraine, have the opportunity to live in their homes.
The President thanked everyone who have contributed to the victory: soldiers, members of the resistance movement, and international partners. Everyone who frees repressed Ukrainians and supports everyone, preserving their faith in justice.
“The return of all our captured and deported citizens and Crimean political prisoners is our absolute priority. I am grateful to all the countries that help us with it,” Volodymyr Oleksandrovych emphasized.
Summarizing, he once again highlighted that we have the strength to end this war on Ukrainian terms by de-occupying Crimea and other territories. Every Ukrainian must fight to restore Ukraine’s territorial integrity and bring Russia to justice. The only reward after the battle is over is victory.
