“The International Crimea Platform rose into a body which unites our joint effort to support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine in establishing peace and prosperity in the region in defence of human rights and freedoms. Talat Xhaferi, President of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, stated his conviction in being on the right side of history because of the importance of continuous support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine. “The democracy can hold its breath longer to fight against tyranny, and in the end of the day, democracy shall win”, he stated as Ukraine’s defence against Russia’s aggression goes on.

He emphasized the need for constant clarification of a harsh violation of human rights and international humanitarian law by the Russian Federation in Ukraine, which resulted in millions of war refugees and internally displaced people, torture, sexual violence, human trafficking, kidnapping of Crimean Tatars and ethnic Ukrainians, as well as the forced transfer of Ukrainian children to Russia.

Talat Xhaferi also reminded North Macedonia’s strong condemnation of illegal so-called elections in the temporary occupied territories of Ukraine.
