The Mission held a meeting with Lennart Ladewig, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine

The Head of the Crimea Platform Department Nelia Hrynyshyn held a meeting with Lennart Ladewig, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine.

During the meeting, the participants discussed Ukraine’s state policy and strategic approaches to the de-occupation and reintegration of temporarily occupied Crimea, including the Priorities of Ukraine after De-occupation of the Peninsula, developed by the Mission in cooperation with civil society and expert communities.

Nelia Hrynyshyn also presented the key international initiatives of the Mission / Office of the Crimea Platform aimed at strengthening the international response to the occupation of Crimea, protecting human rights, and supporting victims of Russia’s occupation regime.

One of these initiatives is the Advocacy Mentorship Initiative for Crimean political prisoners, launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, in which the Mission is actively involved.

During the meeting, Nelia Hrynyshyn mentioned the mentors from Germany — Franziska Davies, mentor of Appaz Kurtamеt, Frank Peter Wilde, mentor of Bohdan Ziza, and Katrin Göring-Eckardt, mentor of Asan Akhtemov — and expressed her gratitude for their support for Ukrainian citizens unlawfully imprisoned by Russia.

This initiative demonstrates that support from the international community and personal advocacy not only help keep the stories of political prisoners on the international agenda , but also contribute to strengthening international pressure for their release.
