The Mission held a meeting with the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Ukraine

On September 10, Permanent Representative Olha Kuryshko met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Ukraine Zlatin Krastev.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the current situation in the temporarily occupied peninsula, human rights violations, the situation of the Crimean Tatars as an Indigenous People of Ukraine, and international support for Ukraine in countering Russia’s occupation. Particular attention was paid to environmental threats in the Black Sea resulting from Russia’s use of the Crimean Peninsula as a military base.

The Permanent Representative outlined key international initiatives aimed at strengthening the integration of the issue of Crimea into the international agenda. In particular, the discussion covered the Crimea Platform and preparations for its upcoming Summits, as well as the international conference Crimea Global, which will take place in October this year.

The participants also discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of Ukrainian studies, including the potential involvement of Bulgarian universities in the Global Coalition for Ukrainian Studies, an initiative launched by First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska.

The meeting also touched upon the Second Black Sea Security Conference of the International Crimea Platform, which was held in Sofia in April 2024.
