The occupiers upheld the sentence of illegally convicted political prisoner Oleksandr Tarapon

On October 26, so-called “court of appeal” upheld the verdict in the case of Ukrainian political prisoner Oleksandr Tarapon, illegally convicted by the occupiers.

Oleksandr Tarapon from Alushta has been actively opposing the occupiers since the first days of the occupation of Crimea in 2014, and after the start of the full-scale invasion, in response to reports of massive war crimes by the russian army on the territory of Ukraine, Oleksandr began posting anti-war leaflets in Alushta and surrounding villages.

We remind that on October 21, 2022, so-called “court” of Alushta illegally sentenced Ukrainian citizen Oleksandr Tarapon for allegedly “publicly disseminating false information about the use of the armed forces of russian federation” and sentenced him to two and a half years in a maximum security colony.

It is important to note that when announcing the illegal sentence, the occupation “judge” Alexander Zakharov said that it was Mr. Tarapon’s civic position that led to this decision of the so-called “court”, and also sentenced the political prisoner to six months longer than the term demanded by the occupation “prosecutor” Shkil.

This is the first time that criminal prosecution and a real sentence have been applied in the occupied Crimea in cases related to the alleged “discrediting of the armed forces of russian federation”.
