«The protection of human rights and international humanitarian law is one of the five priorities of the Crimea Platform. We are dealing with gross unsystematic human rights violations conducted by separatists under Russian occupation authorities», – Eva Herzog, Vice President of the Council of States of the Federal Assembly of Swiss Confederation.
In her speech at the Second Parliamentary Summit of the Crimean Platform, the Vice President of the Council of Cantons of the Federal Assembly of the Swiss Confederation clearly outlined Switzerland’s position about the Russian invasion: “We must not allow the fate of Crimea or other Russian-occupied territories to fade into the background, bringing us closer to the next catastrophe.”
Switzerland condemns the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and demands the withdrawal of Russian troops from the occupied territories of Ukraine. The Swiss government supports Ukraine in its efforts to restore its sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing the need to be guided by UN resolutions. Eva Herzog also emphasized Russia’s illegal crimes against Ukrainian citizens: “They are depriving people of their liberty, people are going missing, sexual violence is taking place, people are being kidnapped.”
