During the plenary session of the Second Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform Claudia Arpa, the President of the Federal Council of the Republic of Austria, drew attention to the devastating implications which war provokes for two of the most vulnerable members of society – children and women.

Claudia Arpa recalled that tens of thousands of Ukrainian children were separated from their parents and were systematically deported to Russia.

President of the Federal Council of the Republic of Austria stated that “It is our moral duty to protect these children”.

Ms. Arpa encouraged states to look in the future and support Ukraine: “We must invest in the future of peaceful and prosperous Ukraine”.

Claudia Arpa emphasized the important role parliamentarians play: “As elected representatives, we have a duty to promote peace, human rights and justice”.
