“This platform is an important initiative and a common signal that says we need to respond more firmly to Russia’s aggression, which began in 2014, and we support Ukraine. A few weeks ago, I was in Ukraine and I saw brutal, grave war crimes, I saw suffering there, so we in Europe need to remember unity.”

During the plenary session of the Second Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform, Wolfgang Sobotka, the President of the National Council of the Republic of Austria, began his speech by calling for a tougher world response to Russian aggression and telling about his visit to Ukraine. He stated that Austria supports Ukraine’s peace plan and called for the fight for international law.

The speaker noted that Russia is spreading disinformation, which everyone needs to respond to: “We all need to respond to these narratives as one. They turn the role of aggressor and victim upside down.”

Wolfgang also emphasized that Russia is using all methods against Ukraine, even abusing the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel to use it against Ukraine: “We need to fight disinformation campaigns that aim to divide our society. Propaganda is becoming more powerful than weapons”
