Today is the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II
We honor the memory of those who gave their lives in the fight against Nazism, suffered from the fighting and occupation by totalitarian regimes. Sixty-one countries took part in the terrible and brutal war, and our country was at the very epicenter of the events of 1939-1945: many of our citizens died, and Ukrainian villages and cities suffered irreparable damage.
Like 80 years ago, Ukraine continues to fight the evil that has invaded our country and is killing our citizens and children. It has destroyed security in Europe and is pushing the whole world into the abyss of violence. As the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said:
“And, as in 1945, only a united free world-united in the anti-Putin Coalition can stop the Moscow Nazis through action rather than words. Such a world can keep the new evil from spreading across the entire European continent, and eventually the entire world.”
