The First Winter School of Crimean Tatar Studies Opens at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy
The First Winter School Crimean Studies will be held at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA) from January 27 to February 1.
This event, organized by the Center for Crimean Studies at NaUKMA, the Crimean Public Media CEMAAT, and the Kyiv-Mohyla Analytical Platform, aims to unite educational and research initiatives focused on the cultural, social, and political dimensions of life in the Crimean Peninsula. The development and preparation of the school’s activities and certification program were made with the support of the United Kingdom in Ukraine and a close partnership with the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The certification program of the First Winter School Crimean Studies, developed by the Center for Crimean Studies at NaUKMA, includes six courses:
- History of Crimea — Tetiana Hryhorieva, Martin-Oleksandr Kyslyi.
- Crimean Tatar Literature and Culture — Aishe Arnautova.
- Crimean Tatar Language — Afize Emiramzaieva.
- Crimea in the Context of International Law — Serhii Petukhov.
- Reintegration of Crimea: Economy and Environment — Yevhen Khlobystov.
- Social and Political Processes in Crimea — Arsen Zhumadilov, Yevheniia Horiunova.
The British Ambassador to Ukraine, Mr. Martin Harris, will also deliver a lecture as part of the Center for Crimean Studies presentation.
The program invites all those interested in deepening their knowledge of Crimea and the Crimean Tatar people to participate. Registration requires filling out a form by January 19.
The Center for Crimean Studies at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy was established as a multidisciplinary platform for researching, studying, and preserving the heritage of Crimea, particularly the culture and identity of the Crimean Tatar people as an Indigenous people of Ukraine. The platform aims to unite scientific and educational initiatives related to the Crimean Peninsula.
