“Recognition of aggression is not something that can be ignored. The Ukrainian people are going through tough times, and they will have to make very difficult decisions in the future.” — Fernando Adolfo Iglesias, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Chamber of Deputies of Argentina.

Fernando Adolfo emphasized that the Russian authorities are driven by a “crazy dream of a Russian Empire,” which provokes resistance all over the world, and stressed that Argentina is doing everything possible to support Ukraine in this war. He highlighted that countries neighboring Russia can be categorized into four groups: those that were invaded by the Tsars; those that were invaded by Stalin; those that were invaded by Putin; and those that were invaded by all of them.

Enrique Martín Goerling Lara noted that the situation in Crimea raises concerns due to human rights violations and restrictions on freedoms, especially regarding the Crimean Tatar community, and drew attention to the importance of parliamentary diplomacy for achieving goals through experience-sharing and strengthening international accountability.

Dunia Mangu Mangu Doudou stressed that the consequences of Russian aggression are enormous, citing the terrible destruction committed since the beginning of 2014, and expressed the Parliament of the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s readiness to cooperate, stating that its doors are open to all countries seeking partnership. He also emphasized the need to enhance cooperation for joint work towards a world of justice, democracy, and a republic.

Derk Boswijk noted that Ukraine’s struggle is a fight not only for its own independence but also for the shared values and security of the entire West. He critically assessed the past policy of the West, stating that they had ignored Ukraine’s warnings for too long and recalled the downing of the Boeing 777 in 2014. The Speaker noted that the West was too focused on its own economic benefit and “careless freedom.”
