Within the framework of the Fourth Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform, speeches were delivered by delegations from Romania, Spain, and Malta

“From the very beginning, Romania has condemned in the strongest terms the illegal occupation of Crimea in 2014 and the ongoing illegal aggression. We remain fully committed to supporting Ukraine as long as it takes.” — Mircea Abrudean, President of the Senate of Romania.

Mircea Abrodean stressed that Russia’s war against Ukraine is a flagrant violation of international law, democracy, and human rights, adding that in such circumstances, no country is entirely safe. He stated that the world must strengthen its support for Ukraine’s struggle to defend and restore its territorial integrity, while emphasizing Romania’s plans to step up sanctions against Russia to achieve peace in Ukraine.

“Nothing can be decided about Ukraine without Ukraine’s participation; nothing can be decided about Europe without Europe’s participation. And obviously, there are red lines that have been drawn, and we must adhere to them.” — Francina Armengol, Speaker of the Congress of Deputies of Spain.

Francina Armengol emphasized the necessity of integrating Ukraine into the European Union and affirmed that Spain is making every effort to overcome the remaining obstacles on the path to Ukraine’s EU membership. She focused on the most brutal consequences of the aggression, namely the abduction of children from Ukrainian families, and stressed that Russia is using increasingly advanced technologies in warfare. Francina Armengol emphasized that Spain is ready to assist Ukraine in the reconstruction and future development of its cities.

“The Crimean Peninsula has been militarized, destabilizing the entire Black Sea region, and the consequences extend well beyond Ukraine.” — Angelo Farrugia, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malta.

Angelo Farrugia stressed that the aggression against Ukraine is not only an encroachment on its sovereignty but also an attack on the fundamental principles of the international order. He noted that the international community is actively engaged in monitoring the situation in Ukraine, particularly regarding human rights violations on the occupied peninsula.
