Participants of the Third International Conference “Crimea Global” Met with the Government Commissioner for Gender Equality Policy
On 19 November, participants of the Third International Conference “Crimea Global. Understanding Ukraine through the South” met with the Government Commissioner for Gender Equality Policy, Kateryna Levchenko. Among those who took part in the meeting were Anna Vásquez Colmenares (Mexico), Anny Modi (DR Congo), Leila Seiitbek (Kyrgyzstan), and Su Mon Thant (Myanmar). The meeting was also joined by Kateryna Hryshchenko, Chief of Staff of the Office of the Representation; Nelia Hrynyshyn, Head of the Crimean Platform Secretariat; and Daria Piskun, Senior Consultant of the Secretariat.
During the meeting, Kateryna Levchenko briefed the Crimea Global participants on Ukraine’s key gender policy priorities and the efforts aimed at supporting survivors of conflict-related sexual violence committed in the context of Russia’s aggression. The Government Commissioner emphasized that Ukraine is consistently implementing the approaches outlined in UN Security Council Resolution 1325, expanding the participation of women in decision-making and post-war recovery. She also highlighted Ukraine’s international engagement on global platforms to support women affected by armed conflict.
The meeting served as a platform for strengthening dialogue between Ukraine and countries of Asia, Africa, and Latin America on protecting women’s rights, advancing women’s leadership, and ensuring their meaningful participation in decision-making.
