The Crimean Tatar language will soon be available in Google Translate

In its official blog, the company announced that it is gradually adding support for 110 new languages to its translator, including Crimean Tatar. This was made possible by the company’s advanced PaLM 2 language model, which uses artificial intelligence to learn and translate languages, even without specific examples to reference.

Nowadays, UNESCO classifies the Crimean Tatar language as one in need of additional protection. In January 2023, Ukraine established the National Commission for the Crimean Tatar Language to protect it.

Other languages that will also appear in Google Translate include Afar, Cantonese, Mansi, Nko, Punjabi, and others, including languages of small indigenous communities.

Google is gradually adding new languages to its translator, so the Crimean Tatar language is expected to be included soon.
