Vadim Bektemirov was transferred to another colony. His family cannot find him

Vadim Bektemirov, who was sentenced to 11 years in prison in the ‘Crimean Muslims case’, was transferred from the prison in the city of yelets in the lipetsk region to another colony. The family of the political prisoner has not received any news about his condition and whereabouts for more than a month. This was reported by Vadim Bektemirov’s wife, Lemara Bektemirova.

On September 21, 2023, Vladlen Abdulkadyrov, a political prisoner and Bektemirov’s cellmate, reported via the russian prison communication “zonatelecom” that Vadim Bektemirov had been transferred to another colony. Officially, the relatives of the political prisoner were not informed of this. Lemara Bektemirova wrote a letter addressed to the russian federal penitentiary service to determine his new place of detention. But the federal penitentiary service of the russian federation replied to the relatives that “it does not maintain centralized personal records of persons serving sentences in prisons and persons in pre-trial detention centers”.

Lemara Bektemirova is trying to find her husband on her own, sending requests to colonies throughout russia, but so far, these searches have been unsuccessful.

We would like to remind you that Vadim Bektemirov is a master’s student majoring in Islamic teachings at the Faculty of Arabic Literature and Humanities, who, before his arrest, actively supported the families of political prisoners, attended court hearings and organized parcels for the arrested Crimean Tatars.

Bektemirov was arrested on July 7, 2020, after another massive search in Crimea. He was charged in the “case of Crimean Muslims”.

On February 11, 2022, the occupation “court” sentenced Vadim Bektemirov to 11 years in a strict regime colony.
