Reflections by participants of the Crimea Global Conference 2023
Last year, the Crimea Global. Understanding Ukraine through the South conference gathered over 300 participants from all around the world, creating a unique space for international dialogue and cooperation. Experts, thought leaders, human rights advocates, and diplomats from Asia, Africa, Latin America, and beyond came together to share perspectives on global challenges and explore new paths forward. This event was more than just a conference — it was a platform that connected voices, experiences, and dreams from nations, who strive for freedom, justice, and the protection of human rights.

Lila Roldán Vázquez, General Secretary of the Argentine Council of Foreign Relations (CARI) is a seasoned diplomat with a distinguished career in Latin American and international relations. She has served as the Argentine Ambassador to Ukraine and held key roles in foreign affairs, including coordinating Argentina’s gender initiatives during its G20 presidency.

Dr. Botakoz Kassymbekova, Scholar and Lecturer in Modern History at the University of Basel is a historian specializing in Soviet and post-Soviet studies, Russian imperial history, and the complex legacies of Stalinism. With a PhD from Humboldt University in Berlin, she continues to explore the historical dynamics that shape contemporary societies.
