“We are determined to promote democratic values and principles as we are witnessing suffering of the Ukrainian people who stand proudly and with dignity defending their own existence” – Jakov Milatović, President of Montenegro

President Milatović highlighted the solidarity with the people of Ukraine during his speech. He named the Russian war against Ukraine  the darkest times which have ever happened since World War II and highlighted, all of the problems caused by the war are spreading wider, beyond Europe.

The President of Montenegro called it an obligation for Europe and especially Montenegro to stand with Ukrainians, as people, who are oppressed and threatened by Russia. In addition, he recalled Montenegro’s decision to support the initiative about military and economic aid to Ukraine during the NATO summit. 

“The preservation of the European security architecture and democratic values, there’s a common goal that can be achieved through joint efforts and measurable actions.” – Milatović
