During the opening ceremony of the Second Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimean Platform, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the Czech Republic – the leaders and the entire Czech society – for supporting Ukraine and for hosting the summit, and emphasized the importance of uniting the efforts of the democratic world to end Russian aggression with a lasting and just peace. 

“Crimea was an argument that the full de-occupation of our territory is supposedly unattainable. Russia’s control over the Black Sea and the presence of the occupier’s fleet created the illusion that Russia’s dominance in the Black Sea was supposedly insurmountable,” the President of Ukraine said. “Due to the deliberate settlement of Crimea by hundreds of thousands of Russian citizens and large-scale repressions of the occupier against all forms of freedom and resistance, it could appear that Crimea was supposedly subdued. Now illusions are melting away,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy added. He emphasized that Ukraine is on its way to victory, and the events in the Black Sea region best demonstrate this.
