We Build Crimea: Kyivstar to restore communication in Crimea on the first day after de-occupation

Oleksandr Komarov, President of the national telecom operator Kyivstar, in his address during the Third summit of the Crimea Platform, said that restoring communication in the de-occupied Crimea is a humanitarian mission of the company. Kyivstar will return to the peninsula on the very first day after Crimea becomes free and returns to Ukraine.

“The day of Crimea’s liberation will be the day we start restoring the network. We are ready to restore Ukrainian communications in Crimea using the most advanced technologies and are ready to do it as soon as possible. The start of this process will be the clearest evidence that justice has been done. That good has overcome the great evil,” Oleksandr emphasised.

Kyivstar is the largest telecommunications operator in Ukraine. 24.3 million subscribers use the company’s services. Kyivstar was supported by the Memorandum of Cooperation and Partnership established by the Ministry of Reconstruction together with the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and business representatives.

As of the beginning of August 2023, Kyivstar has provided assistance to the state, the Armed Forces and subscribers totalling over UAH 1.162 billion. In particular, the company allocated UAH 300 million to restore Ukraine’s digital infrastructure. More than UAH 500 million was spent on providing free communication services to doctors, subscribers in the de-occupied territories, civil defence facilities and educational institutions affected by the destruction.

Kyivstar is actively working to restore and develop Ukraine’s telecoms infrastructure. During the war, the company has built and upgraded almost 10,000 4G cellular base stations and performed more than 150,000 repair and restoration works at telecoms facilities.

We Build Crimea is a portal created at the initiative of the Ministry of Reconstruction and aims to unite national and international business representatives for the economic recovery of Ukrainian Crimea and its potential.

Any Ukrainian and foreign company can sign a Memorandum of Cooperation and Partnership on the portal right now. Together for the future of Crimea.
