“We gathered here to address Russia’s illegal occupation of Crimea and its unjust and brutal detention of political prisoners and journalists, whose only crime is speaking truth to Russia`s lies”, — Marcy Kaptur, Co-chair of Ukrainian Caucus of the US House of Representatives.
In her speech at the plenary session of the Second Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform, the Co-chair of Ukrainian Caucus of the US House of Representatives Marcy Kaptur raised the issue of Russia’s illegal occupation of Crimea and its unjust and brutal detention of political prisoners and journalists. In doing so, she paid her deep respect to the people of Crimea who became victims to persecution and murder at the hands of the imperialistic Russian state.
Ms. Kaptur reminded that today Crimea is not free. Its people are not free to peacefully live in their homeland. As a Member of the US Congress, she shared that America remembers Crimea. As a founder and co-chair of the US House Congressional Ukraine Caucus, she recommitted her efforts to ensuring that Ukraine achieves ultimate victory in its war against Russia’s aggression. “This ultimate victory must include the liberation of Crimea and the full restoration of Ukraine`s internationally recognized 1991 borders. Only then can the people of Crimea and those imprisoned by the Russian occupiers be guaranteed their freedom and safety. Together we can achieve that ultimate victory for Liberty and for the people of Crimea”, concluded Marcy Kaptur
